Our History Shapes Our Future

CIR was founded by Ken Hurd more than 35 years ago specializing in commercial flooring with a much more consultative approach. At the time, the commercial flooring industry was focused on and targeted to general contractors exclusively. By extending his focus to include corporate end-users, architects, interior designers, facility managers and property managers, Ken saw an opportunity to bring a new level of professionalism and expertise to the industry. The result is CIR: a company that shares in his vision and values to incorporate a variety of flooring materials in addition to window and wall coverings.

We’re proud of our union affiliation, which allows our professionally trained and qualified labor team to take home fair wages and benefits, while being measured against industry benchmarks.

We build our processes around making sure your project is done correctly from beginning to end. Because we’re not only thinking about today – we’re also thinking about how we can help you with your next project, or perhaps one in which you recommend us to industry colleagues. There’s no higher honor than gaining repeat customers or receiving referrals from satisfied customers.

We’re a close-knit team with 15 associates in our Irvine headquarters combined with our 35+ field installers. Our clients know we’re an in-house staff that’s well-trained and able to help with not only executing but shaping the direction of a project. They know where to reach us directly if there’s a change or challenge. And they know we’re dedicated to every single project, regardless of its size or scope.

In an industry that can often seem transactional, we’re a team of consultants that pride ourselves on being friendly, responsive and trusted partners to our customers.

Community Involvement

After many projects, we find ourselves with leftover (yet perfectly good!) unused materials in our warehouse. We feel these materials can be of much more value to charitable organizations that can put them to good use.
