3 Advantages of Carpet Tile

January 29, 2020 by CIR

Carpet is a great choice for many commercial applications. We’ll discuss the top reasons why our customers are opting for carpet tile over traditional broadloom (rolled) carpet more and more.

1. Ease of Maintenance

Individual carpet tiles can easily be swapped out with new tiles due to wear and tear or staining. The modular design of carpet tile (24″ x 24″, 50cm x 50cm, etc.) make it quick and easy for anyone to replace. Conversely, if a section of broadloom carpet needs to be replaced, it requires cutting the damaged piece out, removing it and replacing it with a new piece. This requires the expertise of a flooring contractor and unfortunately, even then, it’s almost impossible to fully disguise the patch.

2. Endless Design Possibilities

The modular nature of carpet tile offers a wide variety of design options. By simply laying the tiles in different directions or even utilizing accent colors, you can create unique patterns and looks. And if you’re worried about getting sick of the design before you’re ready to invest in brand new carpet, you can always rearrange the existing carpet tiles in different patterns to create a brand new look.

3. Less Waste

The small size of individual carpet tiles accounts for an average of ~7% material waste, which is significantly less than broadloom, which produces closer to ~20% waste. Broadloom typically comes in 12-foot wide rolls, requiring many more cuts to fit the unique angles and corners of a room, whereas carpet tile can be more easily configured. Less waste equates to lower cost!
